The factory intercooler is made from plastic and is prone to cracking, and has an inefficient tube-and-fin core. Thus, it is not designed for boost levels higher than stock.
This is a direct replacement upgrade for the plastic factory intercooler. Their engineers started with the factory part that was measured on their in-house CMM and scanned using their 3D scanner. After that, a working model was created and optimized using CAD software.
Their proprietary cast intercooler end tanks have flow-directing fins on the inlet and outlet to make sure the airflow stays streamlined for maximum efficiency. High-density bar-and-plate core is at the center of it all; covered with CTS logo top plate. CNC machined fittings, stainless steel helicoils in the mounting location, high-quality hardware and silicon couplers come standard. The assembly is hand-welded in house and pressure tested before we finish it in a semi-gloss black powder coat.
Benefits to upgrading the intercooler are lower AITs, decreasing the chance of detonation and timing pull.
